Estoiro Maria Augusta Colheita Tardia 2017 White

For Miguel Dias, until adolescence, wine was always part of his world. He later abandoned his commercial career and wine became, now with another determination, the center of his universe. His commercial talents turned to wine.

Vinification

In December 2017, the vineyard woke up with a blanket of Frost, caused by exceptional soil and climate conditions, without rain and very cold. The almost raisined grapes contaminated with Botritis cinerea (gray or noble rot) were carefully selected and harvested “bag by berry”. The vineyard Ancient testimony of millenary origins in the region of Beira Interior at 650 meters of altitude, border with Spain, with great annual thermal amplitudes, is one of the key elements in the maturation and harvest, which differentiates and gave rise to the wine “Maria Augusta Colheita Tardia ”.In the cellar the grapes were again selected and pressed gently, followed by a long fermentation at low temperatures that occur naturally during the winter. This was followed by 30 months of aging in stainless steel on fine lees, with natural clarification.
