When one of the most well-known bankers of Portugal retreats to a rural farm in the vicinity of Sintra, what does he do to kill time? The answer to this question is brought to us by the engineer Jardim Gonçalves: by merging his passion for work with the talent of the enologist Francisco Figueiredo, to produce, from scratch, three of the most exquisite wines of the region.
 
Merlot
An original bet on a classic French variety, planted on a half-slope, in clay-limestone soils, about 5 km from the Atlantic Coast and at an average altitude of 90 m. A bucolic plot nestled between groves of cedars and cork oaks.

Vinification
This wine is the result of careful vinification using the classic “open spout” process, with total destemming. The resulting must was statically decanted for 18 hours and fermented in stainless steel vats with temperature control (16-18ºC) for 14 days. Blended and bottled in April 2022.

Tasting

It goes especially well with grilled meat and vegetables, salads, charcuterie and braised fatty fish. Serve at 12ºC.

In the mouth it is dry, fresh, alive, with citrus notes (grapefruit) and light toast. Finishes with salt and a spicy, slightly vegetal touch, giving it longevity in the mouth.
